My daughter joined the Fighting Irish at age 6 in 2011.  We had hoped she would get on a team with friends from school, but it didn't work out that way.  Though disappointed at first, she quickly grew to love cheering with her new friends.  As parents, we loved not only watching the girls but also those boys out on the field.  That first season, we were welcomed in by the Fighting Irish football family, which made it that much more fun.  At the end of 2013, we learned that our cheer coach would not be back and the team would dissolve putting Vivien back in the draft.  We also learned that only two girls (twin sisters) were planning to return.  I couldn't imagine Vivien not being part of the Fighting Irish.  I was a cheerleader in middle and high school and decided I would step forward to serve as head coach for the team.  I enlisted two of my girlfriends, and we built a new team for 2014.  That season, for the first time ever, Fighting Irish Cheer won Best Cheer at the former awards program.  Our football team was there to cheer us on.  I was fortunate enough to coach for three seasons until our kids aged out of FFL.  The football and cheer families of the Fighting Irish were so dedicated and inclusive.  I gained 10 extra daughters, whom I will always adore.  It was fun to watch both groups of kids start off with limited skills and grow each year, culminating in playing in the FFL Super Bowl in our final season.  FFL ignited a passion for traditional sideline cheerleading in my daughter, and I'm so grateful I got to share the experience with her.

FIGHTING IRISH CHEER

The single most organized youth sports league I have ever had the privilege of being a part of . I have four (almost) grown children who were all involved in the league between football and cheer.  I could not have asked for or even imagined a better experience for my kids and I certainly could not have imagined the lifelong friendships between families that developed as a result.

Our son had an amazing experience with the FFL. He learned at an early age the importance of sportsmanship, grit, teamwork, and commitment. These lessons helped to shape the young man he is today, both on and off the field. Without these qualities he would not have achieved his goals of becoming a college athlete.

Thank you Frisco Football League for creating a platform that allowed me to experience some of the greatest memories of my life with my family.

From Kelly Carney, to Matt Wargel and ending with our first female president Erin Hudson, I cannot thank you all enough. Your dedication to a sport that teaches life lessons beyond what any child can experience shall never be overlooked by me.

We signed Carter and Dawson up at the age of 4 to start 5u football. I was so scared of not only having the youngest kids but the littlest kids in their respective division.

There were a few bumps along the way, but the game became more than just a game for them. It became an ecosystem of lifetime friendships that transcend the normal bounds of society we see today.

No doubt, football can be violent at times, and some friends of mine think it’s crazy to put a child in an environment where they can get hurt, however, I have always admired the quote below regarding the sport I love the most and has taught me more in life than you could ever imagine :
